Effect of Milk Replacer on Growth Performance and Economics of Raising Preweaned HF Crossbred Calves

As compared to whole milk feeding, replacer is an excellent cheaper source of nutrition for calves prior weaning. For this study, 20 newborn HF crossbred were divided into two equal groups each 10 animals and put under 8 weeks feeding trial. The control group (T1) fed cow’s as per owner’s practice in the field, while those treatment (T2) @ 2.5 ltr during 1st week then (Amul brand) was 50 gm 150 along with 2.0 1.0 2nd 3rd week, respectively, only 250, 350, 450, 500 400 used 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th 8th respectively. Weekly body weight calculated based on measurements heart girth length using Shaffer’s formula. average age statistically similar both groups. overall mean values gain daily 20.40±0.51 vs. 24.67±0.41 kg, 364.29±9.04 440.54±7.32 g (20.09% 20.92% increase T2 over T1), weekly growth rate significantly (p<0.001) higher than T1 group. There 21.08 % reduction cost (Rs. 3454.5 vs 4377.2) first life. In general, can be raised economically commercial without adverse effect their health rate.
